Puerto Peñasco airport

By Mary Andrade - Posted on 06 November 2009

Puerto Penasco, better known north of the border as Rocky Point, gets its own international airport today, officially known as Mar de Cortés (Sea of Cortés) airport. Rocky Point at the top of the Sea of Cortés and is known by some as Arizona’s beach. Although it is only about a two-hour drive from Tucson, it is more like five hours from Hermosillo or Mexicali, the closest large cities in Mexico.

The new facility was financed entirely by the Vidanta Group, operators of Maya resorts. Thus far it has not been announced what airlines will be flying in to this airport.
